Leopard Lacewing butterfly, Thailand
Leopard Lacewing butterfly, Thailand
Thailand is blessed with a wealth of wildlife and natural beauty, and this tour visits 3 different areas to enjoy it. Erawan National Park, near Bangkok, has picturesque waterfalls and abundant birdlife & wildlife. Kao Sok National Park, in the southern jungle, features imposing limestone cliffs, caves and dense jungle fauna & flora. Situated in the Gulf of Thailand the Ang Thong Marine Park is home to stunning coral reefs, crystal blue water and colourful fish life. This tour combines these three fabulous National Parks into a wildlife adventure to remember.

Note: This is an extended version of our Thailand Wildlife Safari tour.

We start the tour in Bangkok where we meet you at the airport and transfer you to your comfortable city centre hotel. Our first tour is to Kanchanaburi where we see the famous POW built 'Bridge on the River Kwai' and visit the Allied war museum and local war museum.
From Kanchanaburi we start our wildlife safaris with a visit to Erawan National Park, where we spend a night sleeping right inside the forest, and have several guided jungle walks where we learn about and see a wide range of local flora and fauna.

We return to Bangkok after a stop at a local Mon village, where you can experience the traditional and colourful day-to-day life of the local villagers. Back in Bangkok we do an easy cycling tour through local villages and countryside where we can observe the daily life of the locals, as well as a wide variety of birdlife. In the afternoon we board boats at the village of Nong Chock and cruise along the Saen Seab canal back into Bangkok (a sightseeing tour of the Grand Palace and other temples is available for those who don't want to cycle).
We also enjoy a visit to the colourful Damnoen Saduak floating market and nearby lively street market of Wat Don Wai.

After taking the overnight sleeper train south, we enter Khao Sok National Park, a beautiful national park covered by the oldest evergreen rainforest in the world and featuring spectacular limestone cliffs and deep river valleys. There are numerous caves to visit and explore, and dense forest is home to many large mammals, including leopard, golden cat and clouded leopard, elephant, bear, gibbons and deer. There are also over 180 different species of birds including the rather ungainly but beautiful hornbills. While in the park we have several guided jungle walks, and also have canoe and boat trips to view the local wildlife and natural scenery. Our nights will be spent in treehouses high in the forest canopy, and rafthouses on the lake.

The final leg of this tour takes us into the Gulf of Thailand and a ferry crossing to the island of Ko Samui. We have several days here to relax, explore the island and do some snorkelling or scuba-diving on the local coral reefs. We also include an overnight tour by speedboat to the Ang Thong Marine Park, where we spend the night on a small island, and enjoy some of the best snorkelling in the region with a wide range of fish, coral and sea-life to see.

Extensions are available to visit Ankor Wat in Cambodia, or to spend some time by the beach. We also offer several other wildlife tours in Thailand which incorporate some or all of this itinerary.
