| Thailand Wildlife Safari Tour |
13 days |
Beautiful waterfalls at Erawan National Park, Thailand For travellers who want a holdiday with a difference and to get off the beaten track, this extended version of our Khao Sok Jungle Safari tour concentrates on Thailand's wildlife, natural heritage and beautiful countryside. With time exploring both Erawan and Khao Sok National Parks, as well as visits to Kanchanaburi, a local Mon village, and the more rural aspects of the city of Bangkok, we enjoy another side of Thailand to the traditional temples and beach holidays.
On arrival in Bangkok, we greet you and transfer you to your 3-star hotel in the city centre, and the rest of the day is free for you to enjoy the sights and sounds of this amazing city. The following day we head out to Kanchanaburi, and the famous 'Bridge on the River Kwai', where we spend the day touring the remains of the bridge, the Allied war museum and local war museum. We next drive to the nearby Erawan National Park, which is home to a multitude of colourful flora and fauna. Here we spend the next couple of days exploring this beautiful wildlife reserve accompanied by a knowledgeable local guide.

Then we transfer back to Bangkok stopping en-roue at a local Mon village, where you can still observe the simple and traditional day-to-day life of the local villagers. In Bangkok we have an easy day's cycling through local villages and countryside observing the daily life of the locals and also making the most of excellent opportunities to view the varied local birdlife. At the old market town of Nong Chock we board boats and cruise back down the Saen Seab canal (a sightseeing tour of the Grand Palace and other temples is available for those who don't want to cycle). We also enjoy a visit to the colourful Damnoen Saduak floating market and nearby lively street market of Wat Don Wai, both of which are well worth the visit.
Raft houses in Khao Sok National Park, Thailand
Heading south we take the overnight sleeper train to Khao Sok National Park, which will be our home for the next few days. This amazing national park is covered by the oldest evergreen rainforest in the world and dominated by massive limestone cliffs and deep river valleys. Numerous caves dot the area and make for interesting and fun exploring, and the dense forest is home to many large mammals, including leopard, golden cat and clouded leopard, elephant, bear, gibbons and deer. There are also over 180 different species of birds. Whilst in the park we will take walks and boat rides to view the local wildlife and natural scenery and our nights will be spent in treehouses and rafthouses.
Finally we make our way back by sleeper train to Bangkok, where we take time for a boat trip into the rural Western suburbs of the city to visit local temples and an orchid farm. Your tour ends with a transfer back to the airport for your departure.
Extensions are available to visit Ankor Wat in Cambodia, or to spend some time by the beach (check our Wildlife & Beaches tour for details). We also offer several other wildlife tours in Thailand which incoroprate some or all of this itinerary.
