Do you want to learn to dive, but avoid the cold, murky waters of home?  Then why not learn to dive in the warm, tropical waters off the island of Ko Tao. The PADI Open Water Diver course is the most popular diving course in the world, and where better to take it than this exciting, exotic location. Situated in the Gulf of Thailand, this secluded island provides the perfect setting for your first diving course. Warm, clear waters conceal some of the worlds best dive sites, most just a few minutes boat trip from your hotel and the dive centre.

We begin this tour in Bangkok where we take you on a tour to the splendid Grand Palace, with its golden towers and famous Emerald Buddha. An option is also available to explore Bangkok's surprisingly rural western suburbs by long-tail boat, and we can extend your time in Bangkok to give you a chance to see some of the city's other popular sights if you wish). We then transfer by overnight sleeper train and ferry to the island of Ko Tao. Once in Ko Tao, we’ll introduce you to the staff at the Dive Centre before you start your Open Water diving course.

The Open Water Course is conducted over a 4-day period and, successful completion leads to full entry-level certification to the world of Scuba diving. The course itself is broken down into three sections. These are: (a) confined water dives which are usually done in a cordoned off beach area or a pool close to the beach (b) the theory section, which provides basic information and principles about diving, usually with the aid of videos along with a manual (c) at least 2 Open Water dives under qualified supervision and guidance. The course is relaxed and designed to be a comprehensive learning experience to help you reach your goal of becoming a qualified diver.

You have a final free morning in Ko Tao to either relax or treat yourself to an extra dive (you can also extend your time in Ko Tao to fit in some more dives or just to relax on the beach); before we transfer you back by ferry and train to Bangkok and your flight home. Optional airport arrival and departure transfers are available on request.
