You will be met & welcomed at the airport and transfered to your hotel. The rest of the day is free for you to settle in and relax. Depending on your arrival time we may arrange an initial introductory tour of the local area.
This morning you'll enjoy exploring Bangkok: visiting the stunning Grand Palace complex and the Royal Temple of the Emerald Buddha. You'll also stop at Wat Po, Bangkok's oldest and largest Wat (temple), and home to the largest reclining Buddha. After lunch we will take to the water for a canal trip; a more sedate, quiet chance to see city suburbs, gardens, markets and the Royal Barge House.
Today's tour is to historic Kanchanaburi where you see the reamins of the famous bridge over the River Kwai, visit the Allied War Cemetery, war museum and take a train journey on the Death Railway to Hellfire Pass. A short long-tailed boat trip along the Kwai Noi River is also included.
This morning you walk to a beautiful multi-tiered waterfall in Erawan National Park. This park contains a unique and rugged landscape of high elevation plateaus and steep valleys with its forests supporting an amazing array of plants and a diverse range of wildlife, from minute brilliantly coloured insects to tigers and the mighty Asian elephant. After lunch, you drive east to Ayutthaya, the former capital of Thailand (1350-1767AD) and a UNESCO world heritage site. You spend the night at a rural riverside resort enjoying an authentic Thai meal with many of the ingredients grown from the resorts own organic gardens.
Ayutthaya’s many ancient temples are scattered throughout the site and along the encircling Chao Phraya River. You visit several of the most important temples and the former summer palace Ban Pa-In, before travelling back to Bangkok in the afternoon on a deluxe river cruise boat, enjoying a large Thai buffet lunch on board.
You depart early this morning to Ban Paew for a boat cruise along the Damnoen Saduak Canal. You enjoy the beautiful sights along the way and witness the day-to-day activities of the Thai people who live on the canals. The cruise ends at the wonderfully colourful floating market at Damnoen Suduak. The afternoon features a fun and interactive Thai cookery course, with the opportunity to buy some ingredients to take home with you.
Your time is free today before we transfer you back to the airport for your flight home.
We use a range of carefully selected hotels for our private departures. If you have specific requests for hotels, please ask for a tailor-made tour.
