You will be met & welcomed at the airport and transfered to your hotel. The rest of the day is free for you to settle in and relax.
This morning you'll enjoy exploring Bangkok: visiting the stunning Grand Palace complex and the Royal Temple of the Emerald Buddha. You'll also stop at Wat Po, Bangkok's oldest and largest Wat (temple), and home to the largest reclining Buddha. After lunch we will take to the water for a canal trip; a more sedate, quiet chance to see city suburbs, gardens, markets and the Royal Barge House.
A day trip from Bangkok to Ayutthaya, the ancient capital of Siam. A UNESCO World Heritage Site there holds ruined monasteries and temples, the remains of one of the largest cities in the world in it's time. Later in the day, we will take a relaxing trip aboard a traditional rice barge to explore the local waterways and villages.
Today is spent again in Bangkok, starting with a visit to a market in Samut Songkram province, alongside the railway lines. We will then take in one of Thailand's famous floating markets from the relaxing perspective of the canals. We will continue on the boat to visit Buddhist temples and local villages of the Thia people. The final sight of the tour is a park with a Thai style Pavillion Museum.
Today we fly up to the far north of the country, to Chang Rai in the famous Golden Triangle (refers to the juntion of the borders of Thailand, Burma and Laos).Our hotel is situated on the banks of the mighty Mekong River, with views across into Laos and Burma. We will enjoy a tour of the town of Chang Rai by cycle rickshaw, and explore the Hill Tribe Museum and several important temples.
You spend today exploring the countryside surrounding Chiang Rai, travelling by elephant, boat and ox cart through bamboo forest, woodlands, rice paddies and farmland. You'll visit a remote Akha hill tribe village and can see the old capaital of Chiang Saen on the banks of the Mekong before returning to Chiang Rai.
You head through lush green mountain scenery to Chiang Mai today, visiting the royal palace and gardens at Doi Tung and some of the lesser visited tribal communitites..
Your tour today explores local lifestyles and lanna culture at a local farmhouse and with a cruise on the Mae Pang river. In the afternoon, visit Doi Suthep temple, the holiest temple in northern Thailand, situated on a hill with great views over Chiang Mai and the surrounding region.
You finish your time in the north of Thailand this morning, and have time to explore Chiang Mai's markets a little more before flying directly to the south of the country and the island of Phuket.
The next four days are spent enjoying the beautiful beaches and forested interior of Phuket. We include a guided tour of the interior one day, and an elegant dinner cruise to a secluded beach for a memorable end to your stay. A wide range of activities are available, above and below the water, or you can just relax in and around your hotel.
Your time is free today before we transfer you back to the airport for your flight home.
