LOCAL PAYMENTS

The vast majority of our tours do not include any local payments. We do however need to ask you to pay our local agents for some options locally, rather than in advance to us here in the UK. This is normally done to comply with UK ATOL regulations when we use our local agents to book internal flights that are hard to ticket here in the UK (eg. Abu Simbel flight in Egypt, Everest Mountain flights in Nepal). Occasionally we may also ask for a local payment as an easy and convenient way to provide funds to your tour/expedition leader to cover some of the day-to-day costs involved with running your trip. Full details of all our prices and local payments for any tours and options are given on our website, and in each individual tour facsheet.
If your tour or one of your options requires a local payment, you must make this payment to your tour/expedition leader at the beginning of your trip. The payment should be made in either GB Pounds or US Dollars or in the local currency (unless otherwise specified on your Itinerary/Factsheet) and the amount you will need to pay can be found on the price and dates page for your trip on our website, and on your invoice.
Credit Card Payments can also be accepted locally for some local payments, but these will be charged a 3% fee (note that your credit card company may not use the same exchange rate as published locally).
If you have selected options which include domestic flights, then these may be paid for to our local flight agents when you arrive at your destination. Our local flight agents will book the flights and issue the tickets in advance, and you will pay our agent for them when you arrive. GB Pounds, US Dollars and Euros or a credit card (see above) are normally accepted, and a receipt will be provided.
