Thailand island & beach holidays

With some of the World’s best beaches, Thailand’s long coastline and numerous idyllic islands are usually high on the list of places to visit on a holiday to the “Land of Smiles”. Although most of Thailand’s beaches offer fine white sands, crystal blue waters and amazing underwater scenery, each beach has its own character and it is therefore a good idea choose your beach carefully.

The west coast mostly offers the typical paradise beaches so synonymous with Thailand. It is suitable for just about everyone, from the activity-filled high class Phuket area, to the backpacker islands of Koh Phi Phi and Koh Lanta, to the climbing cliffs of Krabi, to the popular family destination Khao Lak.

The Gulf of Thailand also offers scenic beaches and islands. One of the most popular islands is Koh Samui, which is both family friendly and budget oriented. Nearby is Koh Phangan, renowned for its full moon parties, but also for its quiet and mostly untouched nature. To the north is the scuba diving island of Koh Tao, a charming island with world class diving sites.

To the North of the Gulf of Thailand the resort islands of Koh Samet and Koh Chang are both very popular for short beach extensions, and both have high class resorts resorts and budget beach bungalows available.

Island & beach extensions

Thailand is rightly famous for its beautiful islands and beaches, and they can make a beautiful and relaxing end to a tour exploring other parts of the country. We can suggest a wide variety of different styles of hotel, resort, and destination to visit depending on your interests, budget, the season, and the time you have available. The options shown below are some simple examples, but we can adjust these to fit your individual tour and requirements.

Ko Samet beach extension - UK£0 per person

  • Day 1:
  • Bangkok to Ko Samet

This morning we pick you up from your hotel and drive south to the island of Ko Samet, approx. 200km or 3 hours drive and a short ferry crossing from Bangkok. This short journey makes Ko Samet the closest island to Bangkok and as a result it can get very busy with visitors from Bangkok at weekends and public holidays. It remains a beautiful island though with lovely white sandy beaches, getting gradually quieter and more peaceful towards its southern tip.

  • Day 2-4:
  • Ko Samet

The next 3 days are free for you to enjoy your time relaxing on the beach, trying some snorkelling, or walking around the island. Some scuba-diving is available and boats can take you to some nearby islands with better visibility. If you are very keen snorkelers or scuba divers then other islands may be a better option.

Overnight: 4 nights at a 4-star resort hotel

  • Day 5:
  • Ko Samet to Bangkok

We transfer you back to Bangkok this afternoon at a time convenient to you and your onward plans. We can book extra nights in Bangkok for you, or transfer you straight to Bangkok airport if you wish.

Ko Samui beach extension - UK£0 per person

  • Day 1:
  • Bangkok to Ko Samui

This morning we pick you up from your hotel and transfer to the airport for the short flight south to Ko Samui. You are then met and transferred to your chosen resort. If you prefer, you can do this journey by taking the overnight sleeper train to Surat Thani and then a fast ferry to Ko Samui. Or, if you are in southern Thailand already, we will arrange a transfer and ferry from your previous destination.

  • Day 2-4:
  • Ko Samui

The next 3 days are completely free for you to enjoy your time on this beautiful island. Ko Samui. There are many optional activities available on the coast, in the sea for snorkelling and scuba-diving, and in the islands interior. Alternatively you can just relax and soak up the sun. Ko Samui has a wide range of accommodation options and areas to stay available, including the busy beach and nightlife of Chaweng, the interesting and quieter fishing village of Bophut, and more remote options as well.

Overnight: 4 nights at a 4-star resort hotel

  • Day 5:
  • Ko Samui to Bangkok

This morning is free to enjoy a last bit of sunbathing or swimming, before you are transferred to the airport for a flight back to Bangkok. This option ends with your arrival back into Bangkok airport, but we can arrange extra nights of hotel accommodation and airport transfers if you wish. You could also fly home directly from Ko Samui (stopping off in Bangkok en-route).

Phuket beach extnesion - UK£0 per person

  • Bangkok to Phuket

This morning we pick you up from your hotel and transfer to the airport for your flight south to Phuket. Direct flights are also available from Chiang Mai to Phuket. • Day 2-4:
  • Phuket

The next 3 days are free for you to enjoy your time on Thailand’s largest, busiest and most developed island. As well as its beautiful beaches, numerous water sports options and a huge range and variety of resorts, Phuket’s interior is well worth visiting too with rainforest and parks to explore. You can also take day trips by boat to several nearby smaller islands for some excellent snorkelling and scuba-diving.
