Bringing your children to Thailand can be an adventure for all the family. With beautiful beaches, impressive temples and historical sites, and fun activites in the jungles & forests, Thailand has a lot to offer for an exotic family holiday. While hotel facilities are good, you need to be comfortable that your children will be prepared for an adventurous holiday destination, where the conditions and culture are very different to Western countries. 

There are obviously some considerations to make if you are travelling with children, and we have made some notes below to cover some of these.

 

Some of our small-group tours in Thailand have a minimum age of 8 years, and some 12 years. Discounts are available for children aged 8-11 - the amount will depend on the number of adults & children, and how rooms are shared. While we do not therefore offer child discounts for children aged 12 and over, we will offer a discount to the whole family, again based on the number of adults and children travelling.

If you have children under 8, then we recommend you book a private or tailor-made tour with us.

 

Families with children over 12 are welcome to join all of our small-group tours (i.e. not just our family specific tours). There are some restrictions on scuba-diving courses however. 

 

We are happy to arrange private tours for families, or groups of families travelling together. Running your tour privately allows your guide to be more flexible with your itinerary during the day, and to spend more/less time at certain sites according to their interest and the ages. 

You can stick to exactly the same itinerary as our normal tours, or we can tailor-make an itinerary to fit your personal requirements, the age of your children, and your flights.  

If your children have some school coursework, or other excercises to do while in Thailand, we'll be happy to set some time and a suitable location aside during the day for them to work on these.  

We will also choose guides that we know are good with children for these tours.

 

We offer several family specific small-group tour itineraries and departures which are only open to families with children. These itineraries have been designed with children in mind - this may involve using a slightly easier trekking section, or different activities in the national parks. We also include some activities and visits not normally included, while leaving some optional so you can make the tour fit your personal family requirements. These tours can all be run privately as well as group departures - please see the tours listed below for more information. 

 

As a general rule, Standard level hotels in Thailand (approx. 3 star) have limited facilities specially designed for children (eg. play areas & games).  Some hotels in Bangkok and in the south do have swimming pools.

Many of the Superior level hotels (4-5 star), particularly by the sea in the south, do have extensive facilities for children, including kids clubs, play areas, and child-friendly swimming pools. Some hotels are better than others in their suitability, and we will choose appropriate hotels for your family accordingly, particularly if you are doing a private or tailor-made tour.

Our family specific tour itineraries listed below use a range of different hotels and accommodation at both Standard and Superior level, which have all been chosen for their suitability and interest for children.
