TRAVEL INSURANCE - FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)
Do I really need travel insurance to travel with Uncover the World?
Yes. Travel Insurance is compulsory on all of our tours, and Uncover the World makes travel insurance available to
UK residents through its membership with the
Travel Trust Association. You must provide us with your travel insurance details, before your departure. Our
booking conditions state that we will not run your tour for you if you do not have travel insurance, and no refund will be due.
Didn't you formerly offer travel insurance yourselves?
Yes, we used to sell travel insurance, but from 1st Jan 2009 new Financial Services Authority (FSA) regulations in the UK mean we are no longer able to do this, or to offer advice or recommendations about travel insurance. Instead, the Travel Trust Association has become FSA Authorised and Regulated, and we are now a registered 'Unregulated Introducer' for them.
Do I need travel insurance before I book my holiday?
No. You can purchase travel insurance any time before your date of departure. The insurance cannot normally be purchased once you have already left your home to start the holiday. Please note that cancellation cover will only come into effect after your policy has been issued, and if the reason for the cancellation happens after that date
I don’t live in the UK. Can I purchase travel insurance from the Travel Trust Association?
No, the policies are only valid if you are resident for at least 6 months of the year in the United Kingdom or Channel Islands. Non-UK residents can check WorldwideInsure for suitable policies (
EU residents /
Worldwide residents).
I have a pre-existing medical condition. What do I do?
Please speak to your travel insurance provider before you travel to ensure you are properly covered. A supplementary cost may be added to the price of your policy.
I have private medical insurance - is that OK?
Private medical insurance may cover you while you are on holiday abroad, but it may not. Please check with them before you leave. We still need to know the details of the policy in case we need to contact them in an emergency.
We still recommend that you take out a travel insurance policy to cover cancellation & curtailment, baggage and other items that will not be included in a private medical insurance policy.
