Cambodia cultural adventures

Although more often done as an extension to a Thailand or Vietnam tour, Cambodia makes an ideal stand alone destination for those wanting a bit more of an adventurous and challenging holiday. The most popular extensions include Angkor Wat, Cambodia’s famous UNESCO World Heritage Site used in the filming of Tomb Raider, and a city break to Phnom Penh, Cambodia’s colourful and bustling capital city.

However there is plenty else to see in this sometimes overlooked Southeast Asian gem. Its countryside is a verdant patchwork of rice paddies dotted with small, picturesque and welcoming villages. National parks have been created to protect and open up large areas of unspoilt jungle. Cutting the country in two, the mighty Mekong River and Tonlé Sap (Great Lake), a large freshwater lake is one of UNESCO’s World Natural Heritage Sites, supports a unique ever changing ecosystem. To the south of the county the idyllic sandy beaches and clear warm waters of the Gulf of Thailand offer the perfect beach retreat to recharge the flagging spirit. Several National parks have also been set up to preserve the fragile ecology of the mangrove swamps.

Our set Cambodia cultural adventures should offer you a good introduction to what’s available in this intriguing and rewarding country and can be used as a basis for your own Cambodia tailor-made holiday.
